Websearches.club is a browser hijacker application dedicated to the promotion of a dubious search engine located at the websearches.club address. The purpose of all browser hijacker applications is to take control over certain browser settings to force the affected users into landing on the promoted address resulting in increased traffic towards it. The settings that are affected in almost all cases are the homepage, new page tab and the default search engine. Users will be prevented from changing these settings back to their original states while Websearchers.club remains present on the computer.
Conducting searches through the promoted search engine could expose users to significant security risks. Various third-party advertisements could be injected among the displayed search results. Opening any of the advertisements could redirect to fraudulent or compromised websites that could try to trick the user into downloading barely functional PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) or even malware threats.
In addition, the Websearches.club application is capable of harvesting private user data. It collects the search history, visited URLs, clicked advertisements and links, IP address, and browser version. As such, it is recommended to remove the application from your computer as soon as you notice the first signs of its activity.
