'Warning! Piracy detected!' is a fake warning notification created to target Internet users that download .torrent files from BitTorrent sites. The message alleges to have discovered copyrighted material on the PC and that an investigation over violating copyright laws has started against the offender. To avoid prosecution and criminal court, the fake warning opens a webpage that gives the PC owner the option to sette the case for a one-time credit card payment of $400. This scam was designed based on the news of film companies that are aggressively going after thousands of BitTorrent users in federal lawsuits.

The bogus company behind the scam is called ICCP Foundation, which claims to be partenered with the Motion Picture Association of America, the Recording Industry Association of America, and other business organizations. It's been reported that the group responsible for the latest fake alert scams may be associated with the money mule recruitment business and the distribution of Koobface worm. Do not trust the 'Warning! Piracy detected!' message or the webpages associated with it. If you've used your credit card to pay the waiver, you should call your credit card company immediately and ask for a chargeback.
