Web developers that build responsive sites and Web apps may be familiar with the User-Agent Switcher that allows them to see how their product is displayed across devices. The User-Agent Switcher app is built as a browser extension that may be compatible with most browsers and can be found at Useragentswitcher.org. According to its official page, the User-Agent Switcher app is provided to users for free, without advertising and no adware. However, you might take a closer look at its terms of service agreement and pay attention to the paragraph titled Software Features and Compensation. What you need to know is that the User-Agent Switcher extension is:
'...supported by various monetization mechanisms, including but not limited to search, banner, video, image, inline text, and transitional advertising, affiliate links, data aggregation and sales, work distribution, surveys, and sweepstakes. Ads and features that appear on websites by using the Software are not associated with or endorsed by underlying websites.'
There are reports from users that the User-Agent Switcher extension might show many pop-up windows and list sponsored search results that take up to 40% of the page surface. The ads by User-Agent Switcher may include links to faulty goods and welcome users to install badware such as DNS-Locker and HD-VV. Moreover, the User-Agent Switcher may not satisfy Web developers and show distorted versions of their products, which include in-text hyperlinks by sponsors and video commercials by affiliated vendors. Security investigators note that the User-Agent Switcher may decrease your browser performance, and users may not load 720p and 1080p videos on YouTube correctly. The User-Agent Switcher adware may track what you buy on Amazon and eBay to show related advertisements, and sell data like your Internet history and bookmarks too. You might want to remove the User-Agent Switcher adware with the help of a trustworthy anti-spyware instrument.
