Troj/Ifrin-A is a Trojan that is a component of an Italian phishing email campaign associated with Shakespeare. Troj/Ifrin-A strives to evade detection and extermination of many security applications. Italian people carry Postepay cards. The pre-paid rechargeable cards, distributed by Poste Italiane, are often used to make for online purchases. Troj/Ifrin-A steals usernames and passwords that would enable scammers to obtain access to accounts of Postepay users. Attacked recipients may think the email appears secure enough. The sender's address makes web users to think it is a warning message from Postepay, and the subject line says that it is the final warning message to activate a new service. The subject line in Italian reads 'Ultima notifica da noi, attivare il nuovo sistema', and the attached file is named 'Cliente.html'. The lack of a link in the fake email may even dupe some attacked recipients into believing that the bogus email can't possibly be involved in a phishing campaign, and make them to unsuspectedly open the malevolent attachment. If the victim opens the attachment, he/she will find that the Internet browser opens the legitimate Poste Italiane website, but through an iFrame insertion in the attached file, a pop-up alert is also shown, located on a UK pet supply website, which masquerades as an innocent-looking request for a username and password.
