Trojan.WPCracker.1 is a dangerous Trojan infection that is being used to target blogs and websites that use a content management software that has not been updated or are improperly protected. Websites and blogs managed with Joomla or WordPress are most at risk for an attack involving Trojan.WPCracker.1. Using Trojan.WPCracker.1, a criminal may make unauthorized changes to the targeted blog or website. They also may insert malicious scripts or malware threats that are designed to infect visitors' computers. If you manage a blog or website using these types of content management programs, ESG security researchers strongly recommend keeping your software and server completely up to date, using strong passwords and security measures and using reliable security software to protect your computer.
The Trojan.WPCracker.1 May Launch Other Malware on the Infected PC
The Trojan.WPCracker.1 Trojan infects a computer and makes copies of itself on system folders on the infected machine. The Trojan.WPCracker.1 then makes harmful changes to the victim's registry that allows Trojan.WPCracker.1 to launch automatically during start-up and launch other malware that may have been associated with Trojan.WPCracker.1. This Trojan infection is also designed to establish an unauthorized connection with its command and control server. Through this connection, Trojan.WPCracker.1 can receive instructions and updates, relay information about the infected computer and compromise the victim's privacy. Trojan.WPCracker.1 carries out an attack that involves trying to crack targets' passwords, taking advantage of vulnerabilities in these types of content management systems' security. Once the victim's computer has been compromised, Trojan.WPCracker.1 sends all stolen information to a third party which can then use it for personal gain. For example, this information may be sold to marketers or used to steal money from the victim's bank accounts.
The Real Nature of Trojan.WPCracker.1 and Its Removal Process
Trojan.WPCracker.1 is a Trojan. This means that, unlike viruses or worms, this malware infection cannot spread on its own and usually relies on the victims themselves in order to infect different computers. Trojan.WPCracker.1 is often spread using social engineering tactics or other malware designed to download and install Trojan.WPCracker.1 onto the victim's computer.
