Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY
Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY is a JavaScript Trojan that is associated with several browser hijackers. This Trojan infection gained notoriety recently when a bug in Kapersky Antivirus caused it to detect the presence of Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY in every web page visited. However, do not think that this means that Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY is not a real threat. A real Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY infection can cause several problems on your computer system and make browsing the Internet quite difficult. Anti-virus programs detecting the Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY will usually detect a specific JavaScript injection on an HTML page. There have been instances of this Trojan being contained in malicious email sent out by criminals, embedded directly in the HTML code of the dangerous email message.

Common Symptoms of Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY
The main problem with the Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY is that Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY has no direct symptoms. The malicious links are activated when viewing modified web pages and, unlike other browser hijackers, Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY does not cause other, more overt, symptoms. In fact, the first time you suspect you have become infected with Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY is when your security program detects Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY while running a scan. This is why ESG security researchers recommend so strongly running periodic scans of your computer system. The most dangerous malware infections will display no outward symptoms. In fact, it is in the criminal's best interest that malware such as Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY remains undetected as long as possible. Meanwhile, Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY can perform Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY's malicious duties (such as spying on your online activity, stealing your personal information or handing over control of your computer to a third party) without you being any wiser.
Why is Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY Dangerous?
While Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY works similarly to other browser hijackers, its purposes are completely different. While most browser hijackers attempt to force you to visit a web page several times to drive up traffic and raise the chances of you downloading a malware infection, Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY is more sophisticated. This Trojan simply makes your browser visit these malicious websites without you realizing, and then can access and download other malware threats from these websites. Since the Trojan.JS.Redirector.KY Trojan does not display annoying messages, change your settings or draw attention to itself, you may not realize that your computer system has an infection, until it is too late. By then, your computer will probably have become infected with additional malware infections that may not be so shy.
