TrojanDownloader:Win32/Karagany.I is a Trojan donwlader (malware loader/installer) that functions as a part of a multi-component malware infection. TrojanDownloader:Win32/Karagany.I may propagate via drive-by downloads. TrojanDownloader:Win32/Karagany.I can also circulate to the victimized PCs via infected or hacked websites. When TrojanDownloader:Win32/Karagany.I has executed its payload, it ends itself.
TrojanDownloader:Win32/Karagany.I drops and installs other malware threats involving variants of the Win32/Sirefef and Win32/FakeRean malware families on the compromised PC. TrojanDownloader:Win32/Karagany.I connects to a remote server using HTTP protocol (TCP port 80), which transfers an encrypted malware binary file in reply. This file is then decrypted and run by TrojanDownloader:Win32/Karagany.I.
