Troj/Agent-WMO has been associated with various spam email messages claiming to come from courier services such as DHL. This message will usually contain a subject line indicating that it contains tracking information for a specific package. While the email message's body looks official and uses a spoofed email address, there is no connection between Troj/Agent-WMO's spam email message and DHL itself. This message will include an attachment in the patern of a ZIP archive. Although this compressed file supposedly contains details on the supposed deliver, what it actually contains is a backdoor Trojan infection detected as Troj/Agent-WMO by various anti-malware manufacturers.

By then, it should be quite obvious to most computer users that messages like these are almost always used to deliver malware. However, criminals still carry out these spam email campaigns because of one reason: they work. It is very likely that inexperienced computer users do not know that criminals can spoof email addresses or copy official logos. An official-looking email from DHL can, and often does, arouse curiosity in computer users that do not know better. A Troj/Agent-WMO infection can be avoided easily; it is simply important to remember never to open unsolicited email attachments and to be especially wary of messages supposedly sent by courier companies, airlines, the IRS and banking institutions. Along with many email messages that take advantage of breaking news items (such as celebrity deaths or important world events), these fake notifications are among the most common way in which criminals infect computers with malware.

It is important to use a reliable anti-malware application and a good spam filter to avoid receiving these messages in the first place. However, criminals are constantly thinking up ways to circumvent anti-spam and anti-malware protection. Because of this, it is almost inevitable that some of these malware-related spam email messages will eventually get to your inbox. That's where common sense comes in. You can avoid attacks like Troj/Agent-WMO by simply never opening unsolicited email attachments and treating all unsolicited email with healthy skepticism, just as you would deal with the junk mail that routinely arrives at your mailbox. When in doubt, ESG security researchers recommend erring on the side of caution and at least carrying out a simply online search before believing any claims from unsolicited email messages.
