The Treasure Track browser extension is deployed to users with freeware packages and is free for download from TreasureTrack.net. The Treasure Track claims to allow adventurous Web surfers to keep track of treasure findings and treasure exhibits across the world. However, the Treasure Track extension is deemed by security experts as adware because it only redirects users to third-party information resources and shows numerous ads. The Treasure Track adware is known to place sponsored search results as users employ the services of Google, Yahoo and Bing. Also, the Treasure Track adware will use JavaScript to load banners, coupons, vouchers and discounts on every page you visit. You should keep in mind that the ads by adware like Treasure Track and Solid Savings are not safe, and you could be directed to visit untrusted domains. Security experts add that the Treasure Track adware may connect to the Internet over insecure channels and feature corrupted ads that may trigger drive-by downloads of harmful software. The Treasure Track adware may use pop-up and pop-under windows to promote applications like VuuPC and Winner Download Manager that might decrease your computer productivity. The Treasure Track adware-powered extension may insert a registry key in Windows to start every time you open your Internet browser and prevent users from removing it manually. Additionally, the Treasure Track adware may have installed its files in the hidden system folder AppData to avoid security scans. Treasure Track may use tracking cookies and Web data to create an advertising profile suited to your interests and show customized advertisements. Users that recognize the danger to their Internet privacy and OS that Treasure Track poses may want to use a credible anti-spyware instrument to remove it securely.
