How the Travelocity Toolbar Can Enter a Computer
The Travelocity Toolbar can enter a computer by its user, or it may be packaged with free software downloads. Travelocity Toolbar will copy its file(s) to your hard drive, with the typical name for this being tbTrav.dll. Then it will create a new startup key labeled Travelocity Toolbar with the value tbTrav.dll. It also could show up in your processes list as either tbTrav.dll or Travelocity Toolbar, plus create a folder bearing its name under C:\Program Files\ or C:\ProgramData. The Travelocity Customized Web Search may deliver countless sponsored links and advertisements in the results of your queries and collect the search terms you use on them.
The Travelocity Toolbar is not threatening but may perform some actions, such as changing the browser's settings, which may create an unpleasant experience for the user. According to the information provided by the installation wizard, your homepage and search engine may be changed to the Conduit Search; however, instead of Google Search you have to use search.yahoo.com/web?fr=conduit even though the Internet Options window on the Internet Explorer shows that your home page is search.conduit.com. This is why it is categorized as a "PUP" (Potentially Unwanted Program) by security experts.
