Thefreshposts.com is a browser-based tactic that uses social engineering tricks to make users subscribe to browser notifications from a rogue website. This scheme's ultimate goal is to deliver potentially harmful advertising content to the subscribers' desktops directly, regardless of whether an Internet browser is currently in use.
When visited, Thefreshposts.com shows a blank screen and a loading bar with the following message underneath:
'Thefreshposts.com wants to Show notifications
Click the Allow to subscribe to the push notifications and continue watching'
This is a widespread clickbait technique to trick users into allowing notifications by pretending that some content is loading, but the user needs to click on the 'Allow' button to view that content. Pages like Thefreshposts.com are empty, and as soon as a user hits the 'Allow' button, the con artists have fulfilled their purpose and have permission to deliver pop-ups to the victim's device.
People rarely open Thefreshposts.com intentionally. Usually, they get redirected to that website through an adware program installed on their computers. Therefore, computers that display undesired advertisements and banners or open unsafe pages regularly should be scanned for malware through a reliable anti-virus program.
