StreamsMob

Despite what features it may advertise itself as having, Streams Mob is another Possibly Unwanted Program (PUP) that promotes a fake search engine. StreamsMob's goal is to get installed by the user, either knowingly or not, and modify the settings of the browser to serve its agenda. In the case of StreamsMob, the homepage, new tab page, and the default search engine will be set to feed.streamsmob.com.

Every search query initiated in the browser after that will be redirected and, as a result, generate traffic for this fake search engine. Indeed, feed.streamsmob.com cannot produce search results on its own as it doesn't have such functionality. Instead, it takes the user's search query and runs it through a legitimate search engine - search.yahoo.com.

Users should keep in mind that no matter if they find some of the features offered by PUPs such as StreamsMob, the security risks they represent shouldn't be ignored. Most browser hijackers like feed.streamsmob.com can track the user's activity and store data such as IP addresses, visited sites, and searches. Furthermore, sponsored advertisements that redirect to fraudulent third-party websites can be injected into the list of search results.
