The StreamJunkie Search browser extension from Theappjunkies.com is promoted as a tool that improves your new tab page and searches capabilities. The Chrome Web Store page for StreamJunkie Search published at Chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/streamjunkie-search/hkollobljdpkoljpfjmdfngfoammhpai says that StreamJunkie Search 'allows you find the exact information that you're looking for, with no extra effort needed.' Web users interested in information about Hollywood actors, set photos, and video clips may find StreamJunkie Search intriguing. However, you may want to take into consideration that the StreamJunkie Search extension is a clone of the VideoJunkie Search, which is a product of Theappjunkies.com as well. A closer look at the code and a quick search on Google showed that StreamJunkie Search behaves like the Movie Junkies app by APN, LLC and both programs download resources from Eanswers.com. When you install the StreamJunkie Search extension a pop-up window would appear and ask you to grant the following privileges:
- Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
- Change your search settings to movie.eanswers.com.
Installing the StreamJunkie Search extension is reported to trigger a browser redirect to hxxp://movie.medianetnow.com/wim/lp/offer/?t1=67&t=gomovix where the visitor is suggested that the installation of StreamJunkie Search is at sixty percent and you need to add the filmsNet Start (a.k.a. filmsNet Search) by Medianet.now. You can click the 'Add Now' button and allow filmsNet Start red and change your data on the websites you visit. Or you can click 'Skip,' in which case a pop-up window appears saying 'The installation was interrupted before adding to Chrome' and the user is provided with the following options:
- Try and install filmsNet Start again.
- Visit the store page for filmsNet Start at Chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/filmsnet-start/iiigjoccgnjkohkbfglghdpnbehmlkfj.
- Visit Gomovix.com.
- Cancel the installation of the StreamJunkie Search.
Canceling the installation of the StreamJunkie Search via hxxp://movie.medianetnow.com/wim/lp/offer/?t1=67&t=gomovix means nothing as the app remains embedded in the browser and it is easy to spot as its icon is displayed in the navigation panel. Web surfers can close the tab loaded with hxxp://movie.medianetnow.com/wim/lp/offer/?t1=67&t=gomovix and proceed to use the StreamJunkie Search extension but they may not like the fact that their new tabs have no improvements whatsoever, but their default search is now Movie.eanswers.com. Every search they make via the Omnibox is rerouted to Movie.eanswers.com, and then they load Search.yahoo.com. The company behind Movie.eanswers.com makes money by redirecting users to Search.yahoo.com and collecting search terms that are analyzed by ad networks to provide them with related commercials on connected sites. The StreamJunkie Search app can be used to substitute the marketing materials on your favorite pages with content from partners of Eanswers.com. It is advised that you read the Terms of Use and Privacy Agreement on Theappjunkies.com/terms.php and Theappjunkies.com/privacy.php before you decide to keep StreamJunkie Search on your PC. You can remove the StreamJunkie Search riskware along with persistent tracking cookies from Eanswers.com by using a reliable anti-spyware shield.
