The SpeedGuard software may arrive on your system incorporated with free program installers, and you may not notice it unless you explore the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' option. The SpeedGuard may make an entry in the 'Control Panel' window and appear as an icon in your system tray area. The SpeedGuard software is similar to Internet Speed Tracker Toolbar and Internet Speed Checker and is offered to users with network connectivity issues as a tool that can boost their connection and provide statistical information. The SpeedGuard program is developed by PC Utilities Pro that is behind Optimizer Pro Speed Guard and may be perceived as its lightweight variant with advertising features at its core. Security researchers report that the SpeedGuard application is adware that may modify your browser settings to enable its aggressive advertising activities. The SpeedGuard adware may use markers like your IP address, software configuration, bookmarks collection, and geographic location to show related marketing content.
The ads by SpeedGuard may be presented to users via floating ad-boxes, pop-under windows, and in-text hyperlinks to sponsored pages. The SpeedGuard adware may change the layout of your new tab page to place links to third-party services like Testmy.net and Ozspeedtest.com, and provide limited functionality regarding your Internet connection. The SpeedGuard adware may record your IP address, use pop-up windows to show fake security alerts, and convince you to buy a license for programs like A-Fast Antivirus and Windows PC Aid. The applications mentioned before are classified as rogue security tools due their behavior and lack of evidence to protect users from malvertising and Man-In-the-Middle attacks. The SpeedGuard adware may be compatible with modern browsers and appear as a plug-in, extension, add-on and Browser Helper Object. Computer users that find the SpeedGuard adware on their PCs need to apply a complete scan with a reputable anti-malware application to eradicate it.
