Snappy Image, a low quality Web browser add-on, has been creating problems to computer users lately. Snappy Image is a Web browser toolbar that claims to deliver interesting content to computer users' Web browsers. However, PC security analysts consider Snappy Image as an adware or a Potentially Unwanted Program. What makes this happen is that Snappy Image does not deliver any useful service and is merely designed to deliver advertisements and other marketing material to the affected Web browser, often marked with the label 'advertisements by Snappy Image.' In fact, although Snappy Image is marketed as a content aggregator, Snappy Image is a marketing tool that is used to fill the computer users' Web browsers with banner, in-text, pop-up and other types of advertisements. Snappy Image also exposes computer users to other PUPs and even threatening content through related advertisements and misleading error messages.
One important aspect of Snappy Image that should not be ignored is that Snappy Image tracks your online activity, using this information for marketing purposes. Browser tracking such as this one may lead to security problems and, in rare cases, to identity theft. It is particularly worrying that Snappy Image may be installed automatically by bundling Snappy Image with legitimate freeware, or even using threats to install Snappy Image and multiple PUPs on affected computers. Since Snappy Image places your computer security at risk, PC security researchers recommend the use of a respected anti-malware utility to close down Snappy Image and similar PUPs by erasing them from your computer at once with the help of a reliable, fully updated anti-malware application.
Preventing PUPs Like Snappy Image
Since Snappy Image may be bundled with low quality freeware, the best way to prevent the installation of PUPs like Snappy Image is to pay attention when installing any new software on your computer. It is a good measure to use custom installation so that you can monitor every component being installed when installing new software. The option to refuse the installation of PUPs like Snappy Image may be available during the installation process.
