By GoldSparrow in Adware

Email tactics have been around for, pretty much, as long as the Internet has been around. However, this remains to be one of the favorite distribution methods for online fraudsters and malware developers alike. One of the latest phishing campaigns that came to the attention of malware researchers is the 'Server Notification' email spam. It is likely that users of Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo Mail are all targeted by the 'Server Notification' email spam.

The 'Server Notification' email spam attempts to trick users into launching a phishing page, which requires them to fill in the login credentials for their email account. The message of the 'Server Notification' email spam states that users need to provide their login credentials because otherwise, their inbox will be wiped out. To further urge users, the 'Server Notification' email spam states that this should be done as soon as possible to avoid the aforementioned negative consequences. Tactics like the one run by the 'Server Notification' email spam are rather common. If an email demands you to click on a link to fill in your login credentials, banking details, and other sensitive information, you should be very wary. Many fraudsters use spam emails to redirect users to phishing pages that are used for sensitive data theft.

If you receive an email titled 'Server Notification,' you should not open it or click on any links that the email contains. Instead, delete the email and report the sender.
