The Secury Search browser extension for Google Chrome is deemed as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that you may be lead to believe aims to secure your searches online. The Secury Search service from Securysearch.com is advertised to hide your identity while you are doing searches on Google. The Secury Search browser extension can be found at Chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/securysearch/nhjljpnkipdokigjhabclkcdepfbdndn and you can click the 'Add to Chrome' button, which triggers the display of a notification window that says:
'Add "SecurySearch"?
It can:
• Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
• Change your search settings to: search.securysearch.com'
The Secury Search extension appears to perform functions similar to the Ixquick engine at Ixquick.eu. Both engines are designed to load results from Google. However, Ixquick works as an online VPN tool that loads results from Google without providing information on your machine. In contrast, the Secury Search browser extension is using the Search.securysearch.com redirect portal to lead users to Google.com directly. You should know better and notice that Secury Search does not protect your privacy or offer security as you may have been promised. The search operations made through Search.securysearch.com may be recorded by the developers of the Secury Search app and sold to third-parties as raw statistics. It will not be surprising if the Search.securysearch.com redirect-gateway is used to collect search keywords and help advertisers show relevant marketing materials on your screen. Web users who are interested in protecting their privacy may not be satisfied with the Secury Search's performance and way of work. You may want to remove the Secury Search extension and delete the cookies downloaded via Search.securysearch.com using a credible anti-spyware scanner.
