Securesearch.site

By GoldSparrow in Browser Hijackers

The Securesearch.site Web portal was reported in browser hijacking cases for the first time on September 11th, 2017. A closer inspection of Securesearch.site revealed that the site mimics the default new tab on Google Chrome and redirects users to Securesearch.site/search.php?q=[KEYWORD] which resembles Google.com closely. Securesearch.site says a customized Google engine powers it but we found that the search results at Securesearch.site are generated via Traffisco.com, which serves as an ad platform. The embedded search results produced by Traffisco.com allow the operators of Securesearch.site to increase their profit from targeted advertisements and sponsored search results. The market for Internet search services is dominated by Google, Bing, and Yahoo, and it is tough for new players to assert their position and expand. That may have been a reason for the Securesearch.site creators to reach out to freeware developers.

Free software creators work with advertisers and new Web services developers to monetize their software through partnerships and customized Web search services. Consequently, you might find that Securesearch.site has become your default search provider, new tab, and homepage after installing a new media player, Internet client, podcast player, etc. We did not notice network issues with Securesearch.site and it appears that the service performs as described on Securesearch.site/eula.html and you might want to read the Privacy Policy at Securesearch.site/privacy.html. We should note that the 'Images,' 'Videos,' and 'Maps' search lenses at Securesearch.site reroute users to the legitimate Google engine. Additionally, the overall visual appearance of Securesearch.site mimics Google.com too closely and may allow Alphabet Inc. (the owner of Google Inc.) to issue claims in court regarding plagiarism and violation of copyright legislation. The Securesearch.site portal does not compare to alternatives of the Big Three like DuckDuckGo, and Ixquick favorably, and its questionable marketing practices are detrimental to its development. You may want to avoid using Securesearch.site for your daily Internet activities. If you have trouble resetting your browser and stopping the Securesearch.site browser redirects —use a trustworthy anti-spyware instrument to clean unwanted software related to Securesearch.site.
