The Searchz.co domain is associated with a browser hijacking software that may be installed on your PC along with free applications. Browser hijacking software is developed with the purpose of diverting Web traffic and generating pay-per-click revenue. The browser hijacker linked to Searchz.co is programmed to restrict the user's search operations on the Internet. Affected users may be redirected to Searchz.co and Searchz.online whenever their attempt to load popular search providers like Yahoo, Google and Bing. Both domains may be used by marketers to collect raw data like your search terms, IP address and recently visited pages. The data that may be gathered on Searchz.co and Searchz.online is analyzed by marketers and users may be shown advertisements, coupons and discounts on affiliated pages. Moreover, the Searchz.co browser hijacker may block the native as on your favorite portals and load commercials from sponsors.
Security researchers note that Searchz.co and Searchz.online are hosted on unprotected servers that are known to support phishing campaigns. Web surfers that are infected with the Searchz.co browser hijacker may be welcomed to log into social media via phishing portals. Needless to say, you should not open links on Searchz.co or authorize Web apps from Searchz.online to access your account on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
