Search Smart

The Search Smart program from h[tt]p://www.search-smart[.]work/ is provided to PC users for free. The Smart Search program is stated to deliver a fresh search experience to users. Tests on the Search Smart app revealed that it may change the primary search engine and send users to Yahoo via the following redirect-gateway:

h[tt]p://www.search-smart[.]work/yhs/search?p=[searchterm]&hspart=mnet&hsimp=yhs-001&ext=11810&type=

The Search Smart application from h[tt]p://www.search-smart[.]work/ was created by a company called FirstGate Mobile Limited that sells Web traffic to advertisers and marketers. Search Smart is used to divert Web surfers to Yahoo, promotional pages, discounts and limited time deals. The same practice was observed with the My Net Speed browser extension from h[tt]p://www.mynetspeed[.]link. Both apps are deployed by the same company and function the same way. Search Smart is packed as a Chrome extension that can be found at Crome.google.com/webstore/detail/smart-search/ghjfcaaacjhdnooekhlfkhnkigaoeiag. The Search Smart extension is recognized as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that makes searches in the Omnibox produce results at Search.yahoo.com. If the Search Smart app is added to Chrome, you will see search results suggests from the extension, but the suggestions are presented with the tag 'Search with WebSearch' as opposed to using the real name of the program. The Search Smart extension may cause redirects via Search-smart[.]work, and you may find yourself on phishing pages that promote fake updates to Java and Adobe Flash. It is recommended to reconsider installing the Search Smart by the FirstGate Mobile Limited and restore your initial browser settings with the help of a trustworthy anti-malware instrument.
