Search Omiga

The Search Omiga is a Possibly Unwanted Application (PUP) dedicated to promoting the keysearchs.com address, which is a fake search engine. The goal is to lead artificial traffic to the address achieved by taking over certain browser settings and preventing users from changing them back to their original state.

Once the Search Omiga has been installed on a computer, keep in mind that, in most cases, these browser-hijacker applications are not installed willingly, and instead, rely on deceptive distribution tactics such as bundling, it proceeds to set the homepage, new page tab, and the default search engine to open keysearchs.com immediately. As a result, even opening the browser is enough to generate traffic to the promoted site. Keysearchs.com is considered to be a fake engine due to its inability to provide any search results on its own - it has to rely on order legitimate search engine for a list of relevant results.

Users affected by the Search Omiga may have their search queries redirected in two different ways. First, the search query may simply be delivered to be carried out by Google. However, the other variation will see the search query redirected through several other fake engines before finally being resolved by Bing. The fake engines in question are my-search.com and search-checker.com.

Security experts do not recommend keeping any applications with browser-hijacker behavior on your computer as they can cause unwanted redirects or even more problematic track and collect various browser and system data.
