Search-fine.com is a browser hijacker created with a singular purpose - to drive artificial traffic to its promoted address. Search-fine.com may advertise itself as providing users with quick and convenient links to popular sites, but that functionality is just a pretense for the real agenda of the application.
When installed, Search-fine.com will proceed to take over certain browser settings immediately, the homepage, new page tab and the default search engine mainly. All three will be set to open the sponsored link - search-fine.com, a fake search engine. Whenever the affected browser is opened, or the user starts a new tab, it will result in traffic towards the promoted address. As for any search queries conducted in the browser, search-fine.com will not be able to provide search results on its own. Instead, it will most likely redirect the search through a different search engine based on the user's geolocation.
Keeping any browser hijacker applications on your computer, no matter how useful they may seem to be, represents a serious privacy concern. Most browser hijackers are equipped, in the best-case scenario, with at least a limited data-collecting functionality. The user's browsing history conducted searches, clicked URLs can all be tracked and exfiltrated. Some browser hijackers go even further, collecting IP addresses, Internet providers, or even attempting to access credit/debit card details and additional information.
