Redisearch.com is a browser hijacker, a search engine, and a redirect-gateway to Google. It is a hijacker because it lands on PCs without the knowledge of their users, usually as drive-by downloads. Redisearch.com has been spotted in all the major Web browsers out there ranging from Mozilla Firefox through Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc. It's covert installation method is what turns Redisearch.com into a potentially unwanted piece of software.
Like most browser hijackers, Redisearch.com has been designed to pursue one single goal – to collect browsing history data and provide user-specific Web advertisements tailored to this particular data. Although that’s how online advertising works in general, the unknown nature of Redisearch.com may pose risks to all infected PC users as the pop-up advertisements it provides may not be as genuine as they may seem at first glance necessarily. Rather, those advertisements may either contain unsafe tools or be stored on malware-laden websites. In the end, clicking on such an advertisement may lead to unpredictable consequences depending on the parasite type that is attached it.
In terms of design, redisearch.com bears a close resemblance to an older Google search page layout. What is more, using redisearch’s search button redirects the user to the Google page seemingly. The few search queries performed earlier today using both Google and Redisearch engines yielded identical results, yet the parasite that may come from the potentially unsafe ads still remains too serious to ignore.
While there are a lot of anti-virus software solutions in circulation nowadays, they may not prove effective in removing browser hijackers and all suspicious pop-ups associated with them necessarily. Nevertheless, removing redisearch.com is possible with an appropriate anti-malware tool, as long as infected users make sure to reset their browser settings first.
