By GoldSparrow in Browser Hijackers

The Rapidyl.net site is deemed as an untrusted redirect-gateway, which is associated with a browser hijacker program. The Rapidyl.net site was reported by PC users on forums dedicated to cyber security and researchers were tasked with uncovering the truth behind the Rapidyl.net redirects. The network analysis revealed that the Rapidyl.net portal is related to the 208.88.225.39 and the 194.187.96.24 IP addresses, which are connected to servers operated by the HilltopAds Company. The company in question deals in optimizing advertisements, providing publishers with relevant offers, and facilitating the monetization of mobile apps and sites. It appears that independent software developers have created a browser hijacker, which behaves like adware to claim revenue from HilltopAds and use Rapidyl.net for their campaign.

The Rapidyl.net browser hijacker is observed to cause random browser redirects via hxxp://rapidyl[.]net/out?zoneId=1892611-1892737, which leads users to hxxp://hilltopads[.]net/out?zoneId=1437121&sId={pubfeed}__{subid}&clickId={conversion} and then to a random commercial. The Rapidyl.net browser hijacker may use data like your Internet history, downloads log and recently typed search keywords on Google to customize the content presented via the Rapidyl.net redirect-gateway. Compromised users stated that the marketing materials loaded via hxxp://rapidyl[.]net/out?zoneId=1892611-1892737 tend to include keywords related to their interest and recently visited pages on the Internet. The creators of the Rapidyl.net browser hijacker are believed to exploit the openness of HilltopAds to make an easy profit. The company is specialized in pop-under and banner promotions, and compromised users may notice new windows loaded under the main browser window and additional banners loaded at the end and the top of the page. The advertisements generated from the servers of HilltopAds should be clean, but no company in the online ad business is 100% secure about their data traffic. Cyber security analysts recommend users run a complete system scan to remove any potentially unwanted software associated with Rapidyl.net and erase questionable tracking cookies and Web beacons entirely.
