PUP.ToolbarDownloader is a potentially unwanted program, which may alter browser settings on the hijacked web browser. PUP.ToolbarDownloader may substitute the default homepage or search engine with a certain advertising website, or replace the default tab of the compromised web browser any time the target Internet user strives to open a blank page. PUP.ToolbarDownloader may be associated with adware programs, insert unwanted toolbars or carry out other annoying activities. PUP.ToolbarDownloader is not a PC infection, but it may encompass rootkit functionalities that allow it to conceal itself onto the contaminated computer system. PUP.ToolbarDownloader may also be sponsored by browser hijackers that hack the targeted Internet browser and cause unwanted diversions to advertisement websites. PUP.ToolbarDownloader may access the affected PC packaged with freeware and shareware programs (download-managers,video recording/streaming or PDF creators). PUP.Downware may also use special deceitful techniques to boost traffic of the website and earn money from click fraud.
