PUP.MyEmoticons is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that may be advertised via other free program downloads. PUP.MyEmoticons may include adware and browser hijacker capabilities and have a variety of unclear intentions. During the setup process of free applications, PC users may likely be encouraged to install PUP.MyEmoticons as an extra tool onto their computer systems. After installation on the computer system, PUP.MyEmoticons may modify the custom system and browser parameters. PUP.MyEmoticons may replace the default start page and default search engine with a suspicious website, or open this website in a new tab window without the computer user's approval. PUP.MyEmoticons may also show unwanted pop-up advertisements and banners on the PC. PUP.MyEmoticons may aim to generate advertising revenue from clicks on advertisements and raised Internet traffic of the affiliated website.
