PDFSearchz

PDFSearchz is a corrupted tool that installs as a browser extension or a program on targeted computers. This browser hijacker's main functionality is to redirect user searches through a fake search engine to generate advertising revenues for the malware operators.

As soon as a machine gets infected with PDFSearchz, the malware changes the browser's default search engine and homepage to feed.pdf-searchz.com. In consequence, the browser opens this unsafe URL each time the user launches it. Also, user search queries are always redirected through the malware's fake search engine, while a results page from a legit search engine is displayed, usually from Yahoo Search.

PDFSearchz spreads through infected advertisements, however, another proven method of distributions is "bundling" – developers embed undesired tools within the installers of popular freeware.
