ESG security researchers have received numerous questions about PC Fix Speed. This is because PC Fix Speed exhibits some behaviors that are often associated with a potentially unwanted program. PC Fix Speed is a system optimization and defragmenter. PC Fix Speed seems to be legitimate, despite some suspicious aspects. Due to this, ESG security researchers advise computer users to be careful around PC Fix Speed and consider this program a potentially unwanted program, not outright malicious, but with some behaviors that require caution.

One of the reasons why PC Fix Speed is a potentially unwanted program is because PC Fix Speed just isn't very good at what PC Fix Speed does. Security researchers have received reports that PC Fix Speed's reports are often greatly exaggerated, claiming numerous nonexistent issues on the affected computer. More importantly, its error reports are also not consistent, displaying different kinds of error reports each time, often in an intrusive manner that disrupts normal activity with pop-up messages and alerts.

PC Fix Speed's associated programs also may take up system resources. For examples, PC Fix Speed installs 24x7 Help, a tech support application that adds a toolbar to your web browser. This application alone relies on three active memory processes. Clearly, any supposed speed gains that could be attained from using PC Fix Speed would be canceled by this associated program's use of memory resources and CPU. Potentially unwanted behaviors associated with PC Fix Speed include the following:

  • Some computer users have reported that they have problems removing PC Fix Speed due to the lack of a clear uninstaller. In fact, removing PC Fix Speed from the control panel may sometimes be ineffective, requiring manual removal of PC Fix Speed and its associated programs.
  • PC Fix Speed comes with a few unwanted applications such as a tech support program that creates a toolbar in your web browser and may display unwanted messages.
