The Office Work Suite is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), more specifically – a browser hijacker. This type of unwanted software usually finds its way on your PC through bundle installers that may even contain a legitimate application, with the Potentially Unwanted Program piggy-backing in the same package.
PUPs are not exactly a threat to your immediate system health but may lead to a change of your overall experience when you are using your computer and alter your browsing experience. In the case of the Office Work Suite, the PUP changes your browser's new tab to show a modified blank page instead of the one you configured. The new tab page contains a search toolbar in the upper left corner, a weather widget, two links that resemble bookmark toolbar buttons and a large menu with links to popular websites. The Office Work Suite also will modify your browser's default search engine, switching it to the Office Work Suite New Tab Search.
The PUP will usually be delivered in the form of a browser add-on, and it should be relatively easy to be removed from your browser's add-on management menu. As with more serious threats, the best defense against PUPs is a comprehensive, full-featured anti-malware suite that can serve as a buffer against various attack vectors.
