The Newtab.pro domain is registered to the 37.187.171.199 IP address, and it is associated with software from h[ttp]s://rcpsoft[.]net. The site at RCPsoft.net is said to be the home of the Releasers Community Project "formally RCP" that offers access to free Web apps and programs like OS Cleaner, ComboPix and WinBurner. Newtab.pro may be set as the default new tab page in Chrome, Firefox, and IE by products you download from RCPsoft.net. The programmers from RCPsoft.net might monetize the Web traffic via Newtab.pro to maintain the "free" status of their services.
Newtab.pro functions similarly to Startpage.pro and Mybrowserhome.com, which are clones of Myhomepage.pro. We have received complaints about redirects to Newtab.pro and Myhomepage.pro in the past. It appears the products by the Releasers Community Project may be bundled with free tools from third parties, and PC users may not be entirely aware that they install multiple applications on their PCs using a single installer. The redirects to Newtab.pro may be caused by a potentially unwanted browser plug-in from RCPsoft.net. We know of several add-ons for Firefox that redirect users to clones of Myhomepage.pro and suspect that there will be more clones of Newtab.pro to come up. It is not unusual for freeware developers to register many sites to try and divert Web traffic to their products. The more users Newtab.pro receives — the more ad revenue can be claimed by RCPsoft.net. You may wish to remove unwanted browser add-ons that can be used to track your activity online with the help of a respected anti-spyware solution.
