As the name suggests, Newer Version is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that is associated with plenty of ads. The adware can take control of various web browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. After it attaches itself to them, Newer Version modifies their default settings and changes the homepage and the search engine. After that, it inserts numerous pop-ups and banners to the majority of visited sites. You may notice words with double underlining, which also serve as links towards third-party sites. While they generate web traffic towards their partners, the developers of Newer Version get a pay-per-click commission. In order to maximize their profits, they count both on quantity and quality. The adware gains access to your browsing history, searched terms and cookies and uses this data in order to optimize the displayed ads. Although they may attract your interest, you should ignore them as you cannot be sure where they will take you. If you find yourself on a compromised page, this may result in a malware infection. If you want to stop the constant ads, which serve no good, you should delete the PUP with an anti-malware tool.
