NetMeterX

By GoldSparrow in Adware

The NetMeterX software that you may find listed in your Task Manager is deemed as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that some AV vendors might flag as riskware. The NetMeterX software is reported to come with some devices offered by Hewlett Packard (HP). The company mentioned before is known to install potentially unwanted applications on machines carrying its brand, and you may want to remove NetMeterX from your system. NetMeterX may be used to monitor network connectivity like Ethernet and WiFi connections. The NetMeterX network tool is likely to be listed in the startup section of the Task Manager and boot with Windows.

Some users may not appreciate the NetMeterX tool booting with Windows and like to disable its entry. However, you should take into consideration that NetMeterX writes a scheduled task in Windows and you may need to delete it manually. The NetMeterX software may show notifications on the desktop from time to time and promote products released by partners of HP. The NetMeterX software is known to run as 'netmeterx.exe' from 'C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\NetMeterX' and appear in the task manager as 'NetMeterX (32 bit)'. Computer experts are not fond of bloatware installed by hardware vendors and suggest that the users remove NetMeterX. Computer security vendors may bring up alerts related to NetMeterX and recommend removing it.
