The My Templates software from h[tt]p://mytemplates[.]co is a free and ad-supported new tab replacement developed by a marketing company named Polarity Technologies Ltd (h[tt]p://www.polarity.com[.]cy). The name My "Templates" is associated with a browser extension that can be integrated into Google Chrome by going to h[tt]ps://chrome.google[.]com/webstore/detail/my-templates/aanglbnegdlehmfgpggdmleafnehpbop and clicking "Add extension" below the following installation pop-up:
The My Templates extension resembles the Find Forms Fast browser extension and the Your Free Online Forms released by Polarity earlier. The My Templates application is programmed to force Google Chrome load Search.hmytemplates.co as the default new tab page and start page. The My Templates New Tab includes links to sites like Canva.com, Resume.com, and Bizcardmaker.com where you can find enticing templates for text documents, presentations, and infographics. The My Templates New Tab does not provide templates on its own as it is a simple redirect-gateway to search results on Yahoo and resources at Canva.com, Resume.com and Bizcardmaker.com.
The My Templates extension is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) by Polarity Technologies Ltd that is used to redirect users and collect non-personally identifiable information for marketing purposes. Polarity uses Search.hmytemplates.co and the associated browser extension to record your search terms, the pages you visit online and the content you download. The application records your IP address, installed extensions, browser version and reads the browser cookies. The information is sent to Polarity where an advertising profile for your machine is created and shared with a wide range of ad publishers. PC users who are not pleased with the monetization model of Polarity Technologies Ltd might wish to remove the My Templates extension and related tracking cookies with the help of a respected anti-spyware tool.
