My Sweeps Tab

My Sweeps Tab is a Chrome browser extension that is classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program and a browser hijacker. The program advertises itself as a convenient way for users to see popular bingo, lottery and sweepstake links right in their browser's new tab page. My Sweeps Tab also displays the weather with daily forecasts available.

Users who do not pay much attention during the installation of My Sweeps Tab, however, may be surprised unpleasantly when they find out that the default homepage of their browser has been changed to search.hmysweepstab.com, while the new tab page will be set to open My Sweeps Tab New Tab Search. The default search engine  also will be modified with all the searches carried out by the users being redirected to https://query.hmysweepstab.com, which will then display pages from the Yahoo Search.

While some users may find the features of My Sweeps Tab useful and not that intrusive, it is still recommended to remove this PUP due to the potential security risks it may represent.
