MyPDFSearch

MyPDFSearch is a browser application dedicated to the promotion and generation of traffic for a fake search engine. To do so, it doesn't wait around for the user. Instead, it takes control over the browser and modifies the default settings of the homepage, new page tab, and the search engine to now open feed.mypdf-search.com. This behavior categorizes MyPDFSearch as a browser hijacker. Many similar browser applications also are classified as Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) due to the dubious distribution methods they employ, such as 'bundling.'

The browser that MyPDFSearch is pushing lacks the functionality to generate relevant search results, as that is not something that its creators needed. They simply relegated that to one of the legitimate search engines, and, indeed, every search query executed by the user will be redirected to search.yahoo.com.

Changing the setting back to the way they were before may not be possible, while MyPDFSearch is still present on the user's computer. Coupled with the other security risks - data logging, or injection of sponsored advertisements into the search results that lead to shady third-party sites, makes keeping the application a dubious proposition.
