Malware researchers report that the Moshpunt 2K Trojan was developed by a programmer named MoSHPuNTeR in July 2000. The Moshpunt 2K Trojan is designed to target the AIM messenger, ICQ messenger, and email services to collect login details of infected PC users. The Moshpunt 2K malware is very similar to Buddylist and Omerstroke, and may arrive on your machine via spam emails and fake software updates to Java and Adobe Flash Player that are used widely. Malware researchers perceive the Moshpunt 2K Trojan as a parasite that can use code injection and record keystrokes to collect the user's credentials for email services and instant messaging clients. The Moshpunt 2K Trojan may use several runtime DLLs to monitor the infected user's activity in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Also, the Moshpunt 2K malware may work as a stand-alone background process to keep track of the processes gthat are being executed in the Windows Task Manager. Then, Moshpunt 2K waits for users to run AIM and ICQ to hijack their username and passwords. The data gathered by Moshpunt 2K might be sent over the Internet as a POST message to a remote server controlled by its operators. The Moshpunt 2K malware has a built-in communication module and may receive instructions as well. The Moshpunt 2K malware may be instructed to gather statistics like your Windows version, installed browsers and AV products, IP address and hardware configuration. The operators of the Moshpunt 2K Trojan may sell that information to third parties for profit, and you risk infection with additional threats. The Moshpunt 2K malware may place its files in the hidden Temp folder to avoid security scans, and it may slow down your web browser.
