The developers that created the mixPhotoz (a.k.amixPhotoz Search) extension are said to manage the mixplugin.com site where the extension is not mentioned. The mixPhotoz software is an ad-supported program that you can install and use without paying a dime thanks to the support of advertisers. The developers at mixplugin.com make their apps so that they include a monetization technique, which allows them to claim ad revenue while you use their programs. When the users are installing the mixPhotoz (a.k.amixPhotoz Search) app a notification would appear saying that they need to grant the following privileges to mixPhotoz (a.k.amixPhotoz Search):
- Read and change all their data on the websites they visit.
- Communicate with cooperating sites.
- Change their search settings to: photoz.searchalgo.com.
Computer security researchers classify the mixPhotoz browser extension as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) because it may reroute your searches to photoz.searchalgo.com and then to search.yahoo.com, as well as alter your new tab page and send data like your Internet history and downloads log to third-parties for market development purposes. The new tab provided with mixPhotoz (a.k.amixPhotoz Search) might include promotional images, banners and recommended content from sponsors. Web surfers that may use extensions like uBlock origin and Adblock Plus might be invited to disable them if the mixPhotoz is running in the background. There may be users who do not like that their Internet history and list of recently downloaded files are shared with unknown third parties. If you are not comfortable with using the mixPhotoz extension you should remove it and clean the tracking cookies it may have downloaded.
