Microsoft Cleanup

When looking for applications that can help them to dispose of useless Registry items and outdated files to improve the memory of their systems, increase the browser speed and boost their systems' performance, they may be tempted to download and install a program named Microsoft Cleanup, also know as Microsoft Cleaner, due to the way it is advertised on the Internet. However, the users that had believed in its promises will discover that it doesn't work the way it promises. The true feature of the Microsoft Cleanup is to generate monetary gain to its controller, by practicing click fraud. Click fraud is 'the practice of repeatedly clicking on an advertisement hosted on a website with the intention of generating revenue for the host site or draining revenue from the advertiser.' Besides its fake promises, the Microsoft Cleanup is not related to Microsoft in any way, and this points to another lie and to the unbecoming use of the Microsoft name to gain credibility.

Although Microsoft Cleanup performs some poorly-implemented cleaning actions, it will display various problems and even infections that are not real. Microsoft Cleanup can open a path to other PUPs, adware and browser hijackers enter the computer where it is hosted or redirect the computer's Web browser to suspicious websites. It is not safe to keep the Microsoft Cleanup application running on a computer. Although it can be removed manually, the quickest and safest way to remove Microsoft Cleanup from a computer is by using an appropriate malware scanner.
