The Media New Page Search software is developed and published by a marketing company called Imali Media Ltd. The Media New Page Search software can be found under a slightly different name as well — Media New Page Plus Search. Both versions connect to identical pages on search[.]medianewpageplussearch[.]com and medianewpagesearch[.]com. The Media New Page Search program works as a browser extension, which you can add to Google Chrome and other Chromium-based Internet clients like SRWare Iron, Torch Browser, FlashPeak Slimjet and others. The Media New Page Search extension is designed to change the default new tab page in your system's Web browser and direct users to search[.]medianewpageplussearch[.]com and medianewpagesearch[.]com. The Media New Page Search/Media New Page Plus Search program is ad-supported and needs the following privileges:

  • Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
  • Replace the page you see when opening a new tab.
  • Change your search settings to: [any of the domains mentioned above].
  • Manage your apps, extensions and themes.

The Media New Page Search extension is said to provide Web surfers with access to video streams and enable quick access to online radio. We have tested the Media New Page Search application and found that users are shown a pop-up window from h[tt]p://medianewpagesearch[.]com/widgets/live_player.php. The pop-up window from Media New Page Search may seem like an online media player, but it is not. Medianewpagesearch[.]com is equipped with links to popular news sites that have publicly available video streams. Also, the radio on Medianewpagesearch[.]com is loaded by a widget that comes from a site called partyvibe[.]com.

The Media New Page Search/Media New Page Plus Search extension does not provide streaming services on its own, and you may not like the redirects to third-party content. The new tab page provided by Media New Page Search includes links to respected online services like YouTube, Facebook, Gmail, Netflix, IMDB and Instagram. The search bar on the Media New Page Search New Tab is powered by a custom Yahoo engine, which produces search results on us[.]search[.]yahoo[.]com/yhs/search?hspart=ima&hsimp=yhs-batch1&p=[search terms]&type=batch1.

Imali Media Ltd. uses free applications like the Media New Page Search, the myTV Search Plus Extension, the Watch Series – MediaTabTV and the NewTabTV Plus to collect data about the user's online activity and generate personalized advertisements in the process. The Media New Page Search extension may interfere with the native ads on your favorite pages, and you may be shown pop-up windows that welcome you to install software from unfamiliar developers. The Media New Page Search is deemed as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that you may wish to remove with the assistance of a reliable anti-spyware scanner.
