The Mecoosh Play program from h[tt]p://www.mecoosh[.]com is presented to Web surfers as a browser extension for Google Chrome. The Mecoosh Play Chrome Extension can be installed from h[tt]ps://chrome.google[.]com/webstore/detail/mecoosh-play/migkpbjieldgllknmnemilapmeahlpbp that loads the following message:

The Mecoosh Play extension is an ad-supported program that tracks your online activity and records the software you have on your PC to help advertisers deliver targeted promotional materials to your screen. The Mecoosh Play extension is deemed as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP). We have seen Mecoosh Play change the default new tab page in Chrome to h[tt]p://www.mecoosh[.]com and offer access to a customized Google search. The Mecoosh Play app produces text search results via h[tt]p://www.mecoosh[.]com/?q=[search terms]. Image, video and map search results are presented via the British version of Google loaded on h[tt]ps://www.google.co[.]uk/search?q=[search terms]&tbm=[search lens type].
It should be noted that the connections to h[tt]p://www.mecoosh[.]com/?q=[search terms] are insecure and third parties can read and change the data packets exchanged with mecoosh[.]com. The Mecoosh Play extension is known to download persistent tracking cookies and feature the publisher name Onemedia SRLS. However, we did not find the publisher name to have ties to other projects, and it appears there is no official site except for mecoosh[.]com. The Mecoosh Play New Tab acts as a redirect-gateway to resources on Traileraddict.com and Netflix.com which do not appear to be affiliated with Onemedia SRLS. The company behind Mecoosh Play is believed to reroute users to their search service in order to earn ad revenue. You might not like the limited functionality on h[tt]p://www.mecoosh[.]com/?q=[search terms] and wish to remove the Mecoosh Play extension. PC users might be interested in using a reliable anti-spyware instrument that can erase the tracking cookies downloaded by Mecoosh Play efficiently.
