The Master Penalty Document Virus is a ransomware Trojan that belongs to a large family of malware that is characterized by the fact that they demand payment of their ransom through the Ukash money transfer service. Also known as the Meister Penalty Document Virus, the Master Penalty Document Virus is part of a scam that is designed to threaten you in order to steal your money. The Master Penalty Document Virus displays a message that appears to come from a legitimate source. However, the Master Penalty Document Virus message actually originates from known criminals trying to scam you and steal your money and personal information.

The Master Penalty Document Virus scam is simple: this malicious ransomware Trojan locks access to your computer and then displays a message claiming that you have had inappropriate activity on the infected computer. These kinds of messages vary greatly from one version of these ransomware Trojans to others – some of these malicious messages claim to have been sent by the police while others report on supposed illegitimate software on your computer. The Master Penalty Document Virus in particular displays a message that indicates that there is pirated content on your computer. This message claims to be supported by SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act and PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act). However, this message is so poorly written that, apart from many obvious spelling and grammatical errors, it doesn't even get the names of these acts right or the fact that they were never passed by the United States Congress!

The message displayed by the Master Penalty Document Virus continues by claiming that it is necessary to pay a one hundred Euro fine in order to unblock the infected computer. However, by paying the Master Penalty Document Virus' ransom, it will not remove this malicious Trojan from your computer or unblock your operating system. Because of this, rather than paying the Master Penalty Document Virus' supposed 'fine', ESG security researchers instead recommend that affected computer users take advantage of a reliable, fully-updated anti-malware program to remove this malware infection from your computer. The Master Penalty Document Virus is typically distributed through malicious email messages and through malicious content contained in unsafe websites. Following basic online security guidelines should limit your exposure to these kinds of threats.
