The MapsWorld browser application is a new addition to the countless adware programs populating the Internet. The MapsWorld application may appear as an extension in Google Chrome, a Browser Helper Object in Internet Explorer or as an add-on in Mozilla Firefox. Adware such as the MapsWorld may be distributed predominantly via incorporating it with free application installers. The MapsWorld browser is promoted as "the BEST directions and maps utility available on the Web." Computer users that have MapsWorld installed on their machines, at the first glance, may believe that MapsWorld is a really good tool. The problem is that MapsWorld may function as an advertising engine for retailers. Computer users that have MapsWorld on their machines may have their web browsers cluttered with advertisements, pop-ups, banners, discounts, coupons and special offers. MapsWorld also may compromise the Web browser's performance, collect information for marketing purposes, redirect computer users to compromised websites and bring with it additional adware and PUPs. Adware infections like the MapsWorld browser app can be removed with the services of a reputable anti-malware solution.
