The MapMyWay Free is a toolbar connected to a website with the same name – mapmywayfree[dot]com. The website claims that the MapMyWay Free Toolbar is a product of Mindspark Interactive. The MapMyWay Free Toolbar can be installed by visiting the website directly, where it is advertised as a way to search for maps and directions for free. The website also has its own Privacy Policy and EULA so that it appears that it doesn't act in a shady fashion by attempting to install something right off the bat or by using pop-ups. The website also shows a helpful screenshot of what the new tab functionality would look like after installation, appearing as transparent as possible about the intentions of the MapMyWayFree toolbar.
The MapMyWay Free Toolbar changes the new tab setting of the browser where it is installed on to the mapmywayfree[dot]com search. As far as was observed, it seems that it is the only thing the MapMyWay Free does at this time, though the MapMyWay Free Toolbar may be installed as part of software bundles downloaded from the Internet. For that reason, it may behave as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) if it was installed without the knowledge of the user during the installation of one of these bundles.
If the MapMyWay Free Toolbar is on your computer and you like the service it provides, the MapMyWay Free Toolbar can be kept since it does not perform damaging actions. However, if you think differently, use an anti-malware product to remove the MapMyWay Free Toolbar from your computer quick and safely.
