Mapfinderz is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that may be downloaded from the Web when PC users download free software. Mapfinderz promises to provide GPS-related information, as well as access to numerous and detailed maps. Some applications such as Mapfinderz that are looking for attention and traffic may bundle themselves to popular free programs, and the PC users may not notice their presence and allow their installation. The computer users may agree to download Mapfinderz when they are downloading free programs or may download Mapfinderz inadvertently by not being careful enough during the installation process. Once the PC users download any free program from the Internet and do not follow the download agreement, they may not know what other Potentially Unwanted Applications or adware may come bundled with the tool they are downloading. Mapfinderz may result in a variety of system issues when it is downloaded and installed on the PC. Once downloaded and installed, Mapfinderz may execute some background processes that reduce the computer's performance and may track the browsing activities executed by the computer user. Mapfinderz may display disturbing pop-up ads on the desktop of the affected PC. The removal of Mapfinderz can be executed by an anti-malware product.
