Launchpage.org is a site that resembles the native new tab page on Google Chrome up to a point where one might think Launchpage.org is a phishing page. Launchpage.org does not include the Google logo, but it has the familiar speed dial below the search bar, quick links in the top right corner, and a square icon that brings up a menu with additional tools. Web surfers can find links to social media, video sharing sites, online office suite, and online stores at Launchpage.org that they may find somewhat useful. The Launchpage.org site is reported by users who noticed that their new tab page loads Launchpage.org and they might have installed a browser add-on that modified their Internet settings. Apparently, Launchpage.org mimics the appearance of Google.com and expands the list of available links, as well as reroute users to the legitimate Google search aggregator. When you type a keyword in the search box provided at Launchpage.org you are redirected to Google.com and shown results related to your query.
However, Launchpage.org does not provide information on who manages the site and if is there an official browser add-on working with Launchpage.org. Computer security researchers perceive Launchpage.org as a questionable site that behaves similarly to phishing sites, and its owners use privacy protection services to hide their identity. While privacy protection may allow some companies to stop spam emails, other use the protection to publish misleading content and remain anonymous on the Internet. The dubious look and feel of Launchpage.org along with the lack of adequate ownership information should be taken into consideration if you intend to use it as your start page and new tab page by default. The browser add-on linked to Launchpage.org that we mentioned above may have been installed on your machine with a free program that included optional offers. PC users that experience redirects to Launchpage.org and do not appreciate its content may need help removing software related to Launchpage.org. You can delete the programs associated with Launchpage.org by installing a credible anti-spyware instrument that is able to recognize phishing pages and potentially unsafe programs.
