JustMineIt

The JustMineIt software from h[tt]p://justmineit[.]com is presented to users as a browser-based cryptocurrency miner that enables you to mine Monero coins. The JustMineIt can be installed to Chromium-based browsers from Chrome.google[.]com/webstore/detail/justmineit/fmplbcpickpcmkiijagncogoclaiodjb and you can find the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy at h[tt]p://justmineit[.]com/terms and h[tt]p://justmineit[.]com/privacy. The JustMineIt is provided on an "AS-IS" basis, and it is said to be an open-source project, but there is no link to the code at h[tt]p://justmineit[.]com. Proceeding with the installation of JustMineIt the user is shown a pop-up that says:

'Add "JustMineIt"?
It can:
• Read and change all your data on sites managed by justmineit.com'

Users are provided with a public key that they are instructed to enter into their Monero account to collect profit. However, users are not given clear instructions where to create the account as there are many platforms dealing with Monero (XMR) coins. In reality, the public key is useless because when you create an account (at Mymonero[.]com for example), you are given a private address and a public spending key. To log in your Monero account, you will need an address, a view key, a private login key and a spend key — these are not provided by the JustMineIt extension. We tested JustMineIt and found that it does not drain a lot of processing power and suspect that it may be used to mine Monero for third parties. The JustMineIt is considered to be a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that does not appear to work for the users who install it. It is recommended to remove the JustMineIt and use a trusted anti-malware utility to determine if JustMineIt has not made questionable changes to your browser and system.
