The Image Downloader Chrome Extension from Sunnyextdev.com may be promoted to users as a downloader for images. The Image Downloader Chrome Extension has a page on the Chrome Web Store that you can load via the link chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/image-downloader/dofdbcglfghanjdebnppcnhnagchcldm. The page lacks reviews even if it says the app is installed and running on a little more than two thousand browsers (at the time of research). Some users may decide to install the Image Downloader Chrome Extension despite its lackluster description that reads:
'Extension allows you to download images from webpage from context menu.
Hot does it work:
- RMB on image
- Choose ChromeDownloadManager point
- In popup select image format you want download it in.'
The same functionality is built into Google Chrome by default, except for the option to choose the image format. You should avoid installing the Image Downloader Chrome Extension because it functions as an adware and was reported to cause issues with pages in the first week of November 2017. What is more, it requests the right to read all unencrypted data exchanged with third-party sites and manage your downloads. PC users who have installed the Image Downloader Chrome Extension adware reported that it loads banners and ad boxes that carry slogans like 'Ad by Not Set,' 'Powered by Not Set,' 'Ads by Not Set' or 'by Not Set.' The "official page" for the Image Downloader adware by Sunnyextdev.com does not provide any useful information. The EULA document published on the site speaks of a 'Software Updater, ' and the name Image Downloader Chrome Extension is not seen anywhere. Perhaps, the adware developers simply copied the EULA from a previous project of theirs. The dominance of the Google Chrome browser in recent years has served as a guiding light for many adware developers who are switching to making adware-powered browser extensions as opposed to standalone programs, which are easily detected. On the other hand, extensions like the Image Downloader Chrome Extension are easy to produce and distribute and require minimal investments. PC users who wish to strengthen their cyber defenses against this new adware type should make sure to run the latest version of a reputable cybersecurity product.
