IdleBuddy Description

The IdleBuddy software that you may find in free software packages is promoted as a program that helps researchers solve complex equitations. The IdleBuddy program is said to come from a company called Idle Buddy Inc that invites users to donate processing power for scientific research. The IdleBuddy program is said to help scientists perform calculations using donations in the form of processing power from PC users. However, the actual purpose of the program is to mine for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dashcoin.

IdleBuddy is categorized as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that is modified version of the XMRig CPU Miner. Unknown third parties using the name Idle Buddy Inc lure PC users into downloading and installing their product under the pretense of being a form of a charity organization. You may be lead to believe that IdleBuddy runs only when you are not using the PC for resource-hungry tasks like gaming and media creation. That is not the case with the Idle Buddy software. The IdleBuddy program is observed to take up 90% of the available processing power at any given time the computer is turned on. IdleBuddy is known to run as ibservice.exe, IBClient.exe, xemo.exe, warn.exe, comm.exe, rund.exe and loopd.exe. IdleBuddy is likely to disrupt the normal operation of your system and cause program crashes. Updates to Windows may not be installed correctly as long as IdleBuddy is running in the background. It is recommended to consider IdleBuddy for removal with a credible cybersecurity instrument. The IdleBuddy CPU Miner may drop the following files to the Temp folder:
