HD-Total is adware that may display random pop-up ads or ads linked to the PC user's surfing activities in a Web browser when a computer user is visiting various questionable or potential advertising websites. The ads delivered by HD-Total may indicate that the PC is affected by adware or a PUP (potentially unwanted program). The pop-up ads of HD-Total may show up on the computer when the PC user is moving the mouse towards some particular products being advertised there. HD-Total may propagate and install itself onto the PC bundled with various free software, which PC users can download and install from the Internet. Freeware may often carry various extra applications, which may be not necessary for the PC user. Therefore, when the computer user installs any free program, he should carefully look through what he is going to install together with the free application that has been chosen. Upon installation, the HD-Total browser extension may highlight words on the websites that are visited by computer users changing them into hyperlinks.
