GoIncognitoSearch Description

No matter what seemingly useful features GoIncognitoSearch may boast as having, the true purpose of the application is to act as a browser hijacker and to promote the address of a fake search engine. Like most applications of this type, GoIncogniteSearch will immediately take over certain browser settings upon its installation on the user's computer. It should be noted that browser hijacker applications are rarely installed by the users knowingly, and instead, they rely on deceptive distribution practices such as bundling or being propagated through fake software installers.

Once GoIncogniteSearch has infiltrated a computer, it will modify the homepage, new page tab, and the default search engine of the user's web browser. All three settings will be set to open goincognitosearch.com, the address of a fake search engine. Wherever the user opens the browser, new tab, or initiates a search query, it will result in artificial traffic being generated for the promoted address. And goincognitosearch.com is indeed a fake search engine as it simply lacks the functionality to produce any search results on its own. To deliver a list of results, it takes the user's search and redirects it through a legitimate search engine - search.yahoo.com. While GoIncognitoSearch is present on the computer, it will prevent users from reverting the browser settings to their previous states.

It is worth keeping in mind that browser hijacker applications are almost always capable of harvesting certain private data. Most commonly, they obtain browsing and search history, clicked URLs, IP address, geolocation, Internet provider, etc.
